Childhood toys represent all that is playful and innocent. Yet a transformation takes place when they are left alone, abandoned and out of place. Questions arise around whether they were forgotten, or no longer desired. Are they missed? And what becomes of each item once it has been misplaced? Don’t we lose things because at some point they are forgotten?
Amnesia has been photographed using toys I’ve found on location using a large format, 4×5 camera. With exposure times typically in the range of 1 to 3 hours my aim was to minimise detail which may be distracting and create a soft, ethereal mood.
